GREAT SACANDAGA LAKE FISHERIES FEDERATION INC
What is the Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation Inc.?
The Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation Inc. (GSLFF) is a federally recognized not for profit corporation dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the fishery of the Great Sacandaga Lake. All officers and members work is done on a volunteer basis. GSLFF was formed in 1984 and was originally comprised of various fish and game clubs, some of which are still members of the Federation. In the 1990’s, membership was opened up for all who hold an interest in this great resource.
The GSLFF also works to educate the public on various lake issues. Information about the Great Sacandaga Lake, its fishery resource and tourism benefit are only a couple of the strides we take.
Each year, the GSLFF conducts several fishing contests. Contests are generally held in February, May, June and September. Hundreds of anglers try their luck at landing fish large enough to take some of the thousands of dollars in prize money each year.
Who should be a member?
Anyone who is concerned with the overall well being of the Great Sacandaga Lake should consider joining the GSLFF. Anglers, area land owners, boaters and businesses all benefit from the overall “health” of the lake. All the above people reap benefits from our work and the tourism the lake generates. We remain vigilant on so many of the issues facing the Great Sacandaga Lake. Don’t be fooled, GSLFF benefits reach far beyond the fishermen of the lake. Please join us in continuing to build a strong following which continues to be in the forefront of lake happenings. Being a member is an easy way to support this four season resource which is enjoyed by so many.
